Job Purpose: Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Engineering Manager is responsible for the management, direction and coordination of all engineering activities across the plant. This includes providing the engineering support to ensure that the required production/quality/cost/environmental and safety standards are achieved through moulding, assembly, packaging, sterilization, projects, validations and plant services. Responsibilities: Responsible for providing engineering support to ensure that the production volumes are achieved through moulding, assembly, packaging and sterilization. Lead Process & Maintenance Engineers in their respective areas ensuring that the groups are working on the most beneficial projects and tasks to meet site goals. Ensure that all engineering associates are working in a safe manner and that existing and new tasks are risk assessed. Management of the ongoing/annual maintenance programme of all production equipment and plant facilities. Manage and develop the staff in the engineering department through involvement, delegation, and regular reviews of performance as established in IIGs. Measure and control results of activities through analysis of production volumes, product quality, waste levels and associated costs. Lead continuous improvement programmes to improve performance. Manage new product introduction and product/ process development. Overall responsibility for implementing capital expenditure projects and budget preparation for the plant. Control of financial and human resources in the engineering department. Develop, establish, and maintain infrastructure required to achieve conformity to product and servicing requirements. Establish and review buildings, process equipment and supporting services such as transport and communications. Industrial relations with technician and utility personnel. Maintain FDA/ISO 13485/ISO 14001 compliance. Liaise on a worldwide basis with BD operations, engineering, R&D, marketing, manufacturing staff. Educational Requirements. Third level qualification in an Engineering Discipline. Relevant Experience: A minimum of 10 years work experience in a similar role/environment with at least 2 years as a people leader. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong planning and organizational ability. Track record in project management. Strong engineering background with good analytical skills.
